A chop shop is a place where illegal activity of car disassembly is operated. The disassembled car will be sold as parts. Usually, stolen cars and its parts are brought to a foreign country and sold. This way the cars will be difficult, if not impossible to track down.

Chop shops disassemble a car carefully to avoid damaging its parts. Choppers work in an organized manner and very efficiently. They have to act fast but accurately. In most cases, chop shops are operated by large syndicates. They have their own thieves on standby and ready contact buyers. Once a buyer orders a car, chop shops will order their thieves to steal cars and then the chopping gets done in the chop shops.
